Here are some of the projects I created in my 3-D design course at SBCC. There were many specific requirements for each one. We explored concepts that inspired creative thinking and expanding boundaries in this class. The materials we used were mostly cardboard, wood, plaster, wax, and paper.

My favorite piece from this class is by far the matching plaster sculptures. In this project, we focused on creating in the negative space. I started out by building two wooden forms. Next, I cut a stocking and wove it through the form clipping it to different sections to show movement in the piece. After pouring plaster into the stocking and letting it dry, I took apart the wood structure, cut off the stocking, and perfected the pieces to my liking with carving tools and sanding. Although one of the more time consuming projects, I personally felt it was the most rewarding, not only because these sculptures look beautiful to display, but because I had to learn how to let the material do what it wanted instead of trying to control the material.
